Deaf Channel News (2011)
Imagine what it is like to have a Deaf Channel News - all in Auslan for Deaf people? We won't need any microphones, would we?
I came up with this short film of 5 minutes about 'light'. This film was for Australia 1st Short Film Competition held in Melbourne in October during the National Week of Deaf People in 2011.
I filmed myself in two different "characters". One as a news presenter and the other one as a reporter. The film came 2nd in the competition. I am hoping there will be 2nd Short Film Competition coming up later in 2012. It will be fun to make some more. It also encourage Deaf people to make films. It can be anything, but must follow their criteria with a theme.
The Australian Deaf Short Film Competition is a great way to meet other film makers, as well as sharing our films. Hopefully it will become bigger every year just like New Zealand Deaf Film Festivals and other Deaf Film Festivals around the world.
